Student Leadership
Notre Dame Elementary offers opportunities for leadership and collaboration through Student Leadership Council (SLC). The SLC is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who apply for positions of specific leadership and activity. Teacher moderators are involved in directing students and implementing student-driven activities.
The SLC is made up of:
-
President, Vice President, Secretary
-
“Greenology” Committee
-
Religious Affairs Committee
-
Sports & Spirit Committee
-
Patriots Committee
-
Volunteer Coordinators
Meetings are held monthly. SLC members attend all school-wide functions to support the school activities and provide leadership assistance to teachers.
Serving on the Student Leadership Council allows students to thrive in a leadership role, express their ideas on how to improve their academic life and to get to know other students from a variety of grades.
Extra Curriculars
Notre Dame Elementary School currently offers the following after school clubs:
Chess Club - The NDE Chess Club is open to all Notre Dame Elementary School students interested in learning chess tactics, strategies, and check-mating skills. Students practice tournament play and compete against local schools. Students meet once a week.
Choir Club - Our goal is to sing at the school masses and events, showcasing the talents and teamwork of our students. Along with liturgical music, we will explore different genres of music. Music is a major part of a child’s education – promoting self-discipline, collaboration, public performance, and striving for excellence. As the students sing together, they will work toward unity and a common goal.
Gardening Club - Beginning this fall, students can participate in an 8 week after school gardening elective. Once a week, students will learn about the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables, engage in ways to help the environment and have a hands on experience planting a garden in their own school yard. These lessons are cross-curricular to support Kindergarten - 5th grade learning. Some topics include: composting, a healthy meal plan and nutrition. Students who are in kindergarten to 5th grade are welcome to sign up! Any questions, please contact Mrs. Godfrey.
Lego Club - Each week, students will participate in a hands-on Lego Challenge. We will begin by looking at students’ creations from all over the world who responded to the same challenge. This, as well as a short educational video will inspire their Lego Challenge creations.
Spanish Club - Students will get the chance to experience hands-on activities promoting Latin culture. We will learn different types of games, dances, foods, arts and we will make our own fun Piñatas!
Technology Club - Students will get the chance to create their own websites and games, master green screen, photography and video production, create their own story books and posters, and program their own animations. All skill levels welcome.
