Leadership Opportunities
Notre Dame Elementary provides students with valuable opportunities for leadership and collaboration through the Student Leadership Council (SLC) and Peer Counseling Program. Open to 7th and 8th grade students, these programs allow members to take on specific leadership roles and actively contribute to the school community.
The SLC focuses on school spirit, service, and student-driven initiatives, while Peer Counselors provide guidance and support to younger students, helping to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. With direction from teacher moderators, students in both programs develop communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills while making a meaningful impact at NDE.
Peer Counseling Program
The Peer Counseling Program at NDE empowers 7th and 8th grade students to serve as mentors and role models for younger peers. Peer Counselors provide guidance, support, and a welcoming presence, helping to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. They are also present during lower school recess breaks to assist with conflict resolution, encourage positive play, and support younger students in building friendships. Under the guidance of teacher moderators, Peer Counselors develop strong communication and leadership skills while making a meaningful impact within the NDE community.
Student Leadership Council (SLC)
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is made up of dedicated student leaders who help shape school activities and foster a strong sense of community. The council includes:
- President, Vice President, and Secretary
- Greenology Committee – Focused on sustainability and environmental initiatives
- Religious Affairs Committee – Supporting faith-based activities and events
- Sports & Spirit Committee – Promoting school spirit and athletic engagement
