Service Learning

Community service is an integral part of the NDE community, in keeping with the school's mission of developing the whole child.

Each year, NDE students participate in various community service initiatives to support those in need. In October, our 5th grade hosts the annual "Trick or Treat So All Can Eat" Halloween food drive, benefiting the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of San Mateo County. During Thanksgiving, students take part in a "Sock Offering," collecting new socks for Samaritan House. For the holiday season, our community donates toys to Toys for Tots in partnership with the San Mateo Fire Department, bringing joy to children in need. Most recently, NDE students organized a blanket and towel drive for local animal shelters, providing comfort to rescued animals.

Each year, we also explore new initiatives to serve our community. And community service doesn’t stop with NDE students—NDE parents band together to work on projects for Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together. No special talents or abilities are required—just a willingness to help with a smile!

Each class regularly participates in various activities throughout the year to raise money or goods for the less fortunate.
