As a follow up to their visit to the Greek Church of the Holy Cross, 7th graders created their own mosaics. Instead of tile, clay, stone, and other precious materials, they fashioned beautiful images out of construction paper. #upcycling #NDEFamily
Students visited the beautiful mosaics of the Greek Church after studying Byzantine art, architecture and culture. They specifically focused on the Great Schism and the differences and similarities between the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church.
The 5th grade class went on an epic field trip to Chabot Space and Science Center. First, they got to dissect squids and use the squid's ink to write on paper. They also got to look at all of the museum exhibits, and even saw Venus through a giant telescope. Finally, they watched a Planetarium show about the Mayan people.
It was an amazing day!
