Hope.

I was recently asked to use one word to encapsulate the work of the Sister of Notre Dame. This was an easy answer for me: hope. It is a simple word, yet one of the most powerful gifts we can offer our children.

Hope calls us to look beyond today and believe in the goodness that is still unfolding. It reminds us that every child is created in the image of God, filled with unique gifts, limitless potential, and a purpose waiting to be discovered. At Notre Dame Elementary School, hope is not simply something we talk about—it is something we live each day.

As a Catholic learning community sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we are inspired by St. Julie Billiart's unwavering conviction that God is good. Even amid uncertainty and challenge, she remained steadfast in her faith and dedicated her life to educating young people with joy, compassion, and courage. Her spirit continues to guide our mission today.

Hope shapes the way we teach, the way we serve, and the way we care for one another. It encourages us to see every challenge as an opportunity to grow, every mistake as a chance to learn, and every person as someone worthy of dignity, respect, and love. It calls us to become people who not only dream of a better world but actively work to build one.

At Notre Dame, academic excellence is inseparable from the formation of the whole child.
