The Notre Dame Community comes together throughout the year for many events. With the help of our entire school community, faculty, and students, we provide a solid educational foundation for children that promotes life long learning and community service.

Fall Events
WELCOME BACK COFFEE
The Welcome Back Coffee is a great opportunity to connect with the other parents. Tables are set up for information about volunteering, clubs and general information. PTO members are also there to answer any questions.
uNIFORM SALES
Uniform sales are held twice a year--at the Welcome Back Coffee and the last week of school.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Back to School Night is grade specific and a parent only event. Your child’s teacher will explain what your child's grade will be working on and will also answer any questions.
FAMILY PICNIC
This is one of our main community events. It is held in the lower field of the school and is followed by casual BBQ style food and games for the children.
Halloween Parade & festival
Children are encouraged to dress up for the Halloween parade. It usually starts as soon as the children are ready with their costumes, about 8:30 a.m. There are coffee and snacks for the parents while they wait. The children parade around the playground and the upper grades usually choose two winners from each grade. The children then go back to class. Parents and family are very welcome.
The Harvest Festival is organized by the upper grades for the lower grades. It is a fun festival on the playground. There are age appropriate games and some treats. This event is for children only. Your room parents will let you know if they need any donations or help for this event.

food drive
This food drive is called “Trick or Treat So All Can Eat”. This is a school wide food drive and families are asked to donate food for those in need. The class that collects the most food is usually given a prize in the form of a pizza party or something similar.
Annual Gala Fundraiser
This is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is usually a night that consists of food, dancing, auctions and raffles. Prior to this event each family is required to sell one book of raffle tickets; one book historically has cost $100. Scope of this event changes slightly each year based on parent feedback from the prior year. This is an adult only event. Relatives and friends are more than welcome.
Winter Events
Carlmont Tree Lighting
The City of Belmont hosts the Annual Tree Lighting in the Carlmont Village Shopping Center. Kindergarten and 1st grade often participate by singing some Christmas carols before the tree lighting ceremony. We also have upper school students distribute items in the spirit of giving to the community.
CHRISTMAS SOCIAL
This a family event for all grades held in December. Last year it was held at the Notre Dame High School Dining Room. There was music, carol singing round the piano, an ornament exchange and food and beverages. This is a wonderful event for the whole family.
Science Fair
This is open to all grades and is usually held in the Notre Dame High School Dining room. The lower grades usually collaboratively create a project in class and upper grades doing individual projects. Your teacher will let you know what is required of your child. This is an adult and child event.
warm coat drive
This is organized by the Girls Scouts troops at NDE. Coats are collected for those in need.
Read-a-thon
This event lasts for approximately 2-3 weeks and is a voluntary fundraiser. Your child is encouraged to read at home and try to get pledges/donations for minutes read.
Spring Events
book fair
The book fair is an optional fundraiser. There will be a book fair set up for one week set up where your children can purchase books. There will be areas set up with teacher recommended books and also summer reading lists. The book fair is sponsored by Banana Seed Books, which carries many popular reading choices for students.
father daughter dance
This event is a night of dinner, dancing and fun for fathers and daughters. There is usually a modest cost associated with the event. This event is typically held off-site.
mother son bowling event
The mother son bowling event is at a local bowling alley and usually includes pizza; there is a modest cost associated with the event.
teacher appreciation week
Class activities are planned by parent volunteers to show appreciation for our teachers. Room parents ask for volunteers to coordinate who will ask for help for grade appropriate appreciation.
