Notre Dame Elementary is in the holiday spirit! All students from NDE have decorated an ornament that is on display on a tree at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. Our NDE tree can be seen upstairs, by Nordstrom, near the Giants Dugout Store. It was happily decorated by Student Council members and teachers with NDE colors and handmade ornaments. Stop by and take a look as you do your holiday shopping!
Our awesome SLC at NDE organized a Beach Clean Up in Half Moon Bay. It looks pretty cold! We are so proud of their efforts. #NDEfamily
Students enjoyed a fun day full of amazing food and cultural experiences they will remember for a life time. Follow them on their journey!
Halloween is over, but fall is still upon us! View NDE through the eyes of our 8th grade students. #haunted #dappingzombies

On Friday, 10/21, 7th grade had fun with a team building activity in the afternoon. They were given very little materials (13 pieces of paper and 1 yard of tape) to build the tallest structure they could with their small group. The tricky part was that they were only allowed to discuss a plan for 1 min. before receiving any of the materials. Once I started the 5 min. clock for them to build, they had to be silent.
They really got into it! Once, the 5 min. was up, they had 1 more minute to revise their plan, the option for more paper, more tape or half the amount of both and we started another 5 min. silent building period. At the end of the 2nd building period, time was up.
Some groups were more successful than others and we had a great discussion to conclude the activity. All in all, the students agreed that this activity really highlighted how important clear communication is when you’re working with a group.
Notre Dame Elementary celebrated the end of Hispanic Heritage month last Wednesday! Check out the cool cultural activities that 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes put together for the school!
As a follow up to their visit to the Greek Church of the Holy Cross, 7th graders created their own mosaics. Instead of tile, clay, stone, and other precious materials, they fashioned beautiful images out of construction paper. #upcycling #NDEFamily
Students visited the beautiful mosaics of the Greek Church after studying Byzantine art, architecture and culture. They specifically focused on the Great Schism and the differences and similarities between the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church.
